Is it dangerous to self pierce your navel w/ a kit?

I bought a navel piercing kit and it comes with a 14g sterilized needle, a clamp, and everything needed to pierce your belly button. Since everything is sterilized, would there be a higher chance of getting infected than getting it professionally? Ive pierced my nose before, it healed fine. I'm 14 and I don't want to wait until I'm 16 to get it pierced, a bunch of my friends self pierced and they turned out fine.. What are the chances of infection? Thanks.
