Are you thankful to God, if so why?

I think some false preachers out there preach a misconception of giving thanks and of prayer, by the quite evident "health, wealth, and happiness" doctrine. We should all be thankful as believers for one thing only, that God sent His son Jesus Christ to die on a cross so that we could be saved from eternal damnation. Life passes by as a vapor, so asking God to make you wealthy is futile, He would rather have us humble and pure of heart so that we can someday commune with Him in Heaven. I don't know if anyone else gets irked with the televangelists with their 20,000 in attendance and preach the "best life now" doctrine, but it really bothers me that satan has infiltrated the church and continues to steer people away from God through sin on selfishness and the worship of the world, again which is passing away.
